My name is Craig Bedingfield and I am currently in my fourth and final year studying Civil Engineering at the University of Cape Town. I attended high school at Amanzimtoti High where I matriculated in 2006. From there I attended Durban University of Technology where I completed my S1 and S2. I then decided to pursue my goal in getting my BSc in Civil Engineering. I started my first year at the University of Cape Town in February, 2010.

I have also had the opportunity to be Sub Warden of Kopano Residense for 2013.

I am currently on a bursery with Rumdel Cape, where I will be working full time from the beggining of 2014.

About

Acknoledgements

Initial thanks must go to my important supervisor, Prof. Mark Gavin Alexander, for all the close support and useful feedback. Another big thanks must be passed on to Rakesh Gopinath, who was always available for questions and important guidance. These two people, along with the University of Cape Town, have helped supply me with the technical knowledge and motivation to make this project possible.

Other special thanks must go to the laboratory staff of the University of Cape Town’s Civil Engineering department, who provided much needed support and guidance in the laboratory during the experimental process of my thesis.

Final thanks must be directed towards my mom, dad, brother and sister, whose continuous support has provided me with the incredible opportunity to make it to this important point in my life. They have not only helped me grow as a person, but have inspired me to live a dream.
