Moisture profile of drying concrete

Relative humidity measurements were recordered over a drying period of 11 days. Two different levels of humidity were used for testing

Results and Conclusions

From the experiments carried out in Chapter 3, the following results relating to moisture profiles, permeability and sorptivity were assessed and discussed. This chapter represents the outcome from the experimental methods, supplying the relevant data used for discussion.

Varying Parameters:

w/b ratio, curing conditions,

Oxygen permeability index test

OPI tests were carried out using a number of different samples with varying parameters. Comparisons were made between samples with and without the 5 mm surface layer

w/b ratio, binder type,curing conditions

Water sorptivity index test

On completion of the OPI tests, the same samples were used to carry out water sorptivity index tests. These tests were carried out to measure the sorption transport properties of the concrete, as well as to analyse the porisity of the 5 mm surface layer

General conclusions were drawn up linking the various aspects of durability, deterioration, humidity and corrosion. Click on the following lonk to access the general conclusions
